About Vedanta Learning
Timeless wisdom for modern life
- Study
- Reflection
- Application
Vedanta Learning is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit offering an accessible gateway to Vedanta, a philosophy rooted in India with universal relevance to life and living.
Through guided study, reflection and practical application, its programs encourage clearer thinking, steadier emotions and a deeper understanding of purpose. This knowledge connects directly to everyday choices, work and relationships.
Classes welcome everyone, from those beginning to explore Vedanta to students pursuing sustained study.
Educational foundation
Vedanta Learning draws on the teachings of philosopher and author A. Parthasarathy.
His educational framework combines systematic study, independent reflection, practical application and spiritual enquiry. It is carried forward worldwide by educators, devotees and students who are graduates of the Vedanta Academy in India and share a long-standing commitment to study, practice and inquiry into the truths of life.
Knowledge for Living
What brings lasting fulfilment? How can the mind become more peaceful? What gives life meaning?
These questions have occupied human thought for thousands of years. India’s philosophical literature and scriptures, including the Upanishads, set out teachings on the self, human nature and the nature of reality. They offer a foundation for examining life with clarity and pursuing a deeper understanding of its truths.
The Bhagavad Gita, composed thousands of years ago, brings this enquiry into a human dilemma. Through Arjuna’s questions and Krishna’s responses, it explores uncertainty, duty, action and the path to spiritual understanding. These enduring concerns connect ancient knowledge with the challenges of everyday living.
Centuries later, Vedanta and related Indian philosophical traditions engaged Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, T. S. Eliot, Aldous Huxley and Joseph Campbell. Their writing, study and translation form part of a continuing enquiry into life and its deeper truths.
